Hold on

This is some of the new paper I got for Christmas Echo Park Times and Seasons, it can be hard enough to use because I found some of the patterns very strong but once I matched some other paper in it was a joy to use!

I literally did this in 4 minutes, I know this because my alarm went off and I hit snooze and by the time it came around again 4 minutes later I was cleaning up. Looks it all lol :)

Altered journal page- sunbeams

I saw this http://gabriellepollacco.blogspot.ie/2012/06/mixed-media-fun-with-bo-bunny-template.html on pinterest and fell in love with it. Although I don't think mine is half as pretty I've coming around to the usage of little women and my own writing on pages so I learned something, can't be all a bad thing so!
I like the beauty along the side because I found a box of chipboard letters that I've never used but used them as a stencil and sprayed over them. Highlighted in black and it just popped, really happy because I was going to dump them!
My printer hates me and would only print the lady up in a 4x6 so I think I will use her again but on a larger scale and get more creative, that was the extent of how much I was willing to do after a long day yesterday!

Altered journal page- stars

Using my watercolour crayons I added some colours, I stuck mostly with blues
Lesson 1- I learned I have to gesso my new sketch book because it does not hold up to rubbing wet paper but the gesso cured that!

Darkened the bottom of the page with black and purple distress ink

Added some texture in the form of stamps with paint and a script in black dabbed randomly
I was inspired by Racho113 (I'll add a link later) on youtube and made these last month but didn't know what to do with them so thought this project was perfect

Sorry about this photo being sideways, I added the houses, added some extra bits like the muslin on the side and smoke drawn in with my new white marker (thanks Anne!)

Close up of some of the details, the thought of the words was putting me off because I didn't want to stamp it and didn't want to get the big shot out so wrote on back paper and drew around it, I really like the way it came out

First altered page in my new journal, and I can't wait to do more!

Valentines Card- All you need is love

D asked what I was doing and I said making a valentines card. FOR WHO he said....completely serious. I give up. For you, you dickhead was what I replied and he said if it's not on the inside of the card when he gets it he will get suspicious. Oh the romance is still there....

Still on my using scraps buzz so all little bits I had in a box, hand cut heart stamped, inked and covered in glossey accents. I love the banner at the top, I just free hand drew it and wrote in "All you need is", stamped white dabs with the white paint dauber but think it looks a little messy and had already to rub out a huge mess so the paper wouldn't take much more rubbing!

Using old stash

I do feel I was a bit decadent over the Christmas using full 12x12 for little bits of paper so I made some cards using one stamp and some of the scrap I had. TFL :)

Really need to print up some new photos

Just a few quick layouts

This photo was in a frame & I took it out to replace it so I snipped it up instead! Few bits of stamping and a quick layout finished!

I love this photo & poem, looking back on it we were all so worried Eli would never walk. I used my new white marker from Anne to accent the page & sprayed (when will I learn you just can't randomly spray on a layout) and highlighted with a spoldge stamp

Christmas pressies can be posted now

They have been received! I used an old frame that I painted duck egg blue and a sheet of 12x12 with a TH die to cut the alphabet. The little image characters are waltzing mouse and were perfect for this. I know this little boy might be getting some more Dr Seuss things for his room so I thought this quote would be lovely for his room

Happiness Jar

I took a big jar of peppers from Lidl, ate the aforementioned peppers and scrubbed the jar. It's a thing doing the rounds at the minute to have a jar to put happy thoughts in. Since I do Reasons to be Cheerful on Facebook I thought this would be a good way to get me out of a slump sometimes. I coloured the jar with alcohol inks, even though it looks like it's full of beetroot right now.

The lid, i covered in washi tape and painted it, stamped and covered in a medium to seal it. My first happy affirmation is I want to do a tray of lovely tiles like I saw in Annes today, I could have sat and looked at them all day!

Altered canvas tutorial- Cherish

My handsome (if not a biased opinion) toddler after his surgery getting a bath, he was stinkie as he would say himself!
This was a cheapie canvas I bought today and I gessoed it fo prime it...funnily enough I did that in the car but that's another story! I gave it a layer of medium and shredded a 12x12 sheet (it was double sided) fitting them in like a jigsaw.

While it was still wet I added a thin layer of gesso again, not covering completely but taking the colour out of it. I just want to add some texture to the canvas.

Then using a stencil I added medium paste in a few different areas, I LOVE this affect and it holds the colour so much more vivid than paper. You can stamp into it or use stencils but feel it's so versatile I would recommend it to anyone!

Using sprays I sprayed all over using a blue, green and black. I let dry and then finished it with the heat gun to make sure I could stamp on it. Using some TH background stamps I dabbled a little and added the word cherish which I covered in shimmer, then glossy accents. You can't see here but it's the more amazing cobalt blue/black colour.

I sprayed some binding and ruffled it along the edge of the photo, added an E embellishment and think that was enough. I finished the edges with a strip of wasabi tape as I call it. It's on my wall already and I love it!

One layer tag

I love layering up on my tag but tonight I just wanted to kind of zentangle over a few stamps & see how it turned out. Using mainly the tim holtz itty bitty grunge set I stamped all over using permanent black ink. I got some lovely little colour inks from pti but haven't used them yet considering I didn't need much blending it thought it would be ok to use. On all the videos and blogs I see they all recommend this white pen but I find it crap, I've even bought two just in case I got a bad one... I must have gotten two bad ones! The silver pen really made it pop and I added a little glitter gel to the stars. I still think it needs about 4 layers but it'll do as they say ;)
