D gave me a book he got with an xbox game and it was a little tri-fold "leather" bond book and I knew straight away it would be perfect for art journalling. All christmas I looked for ideas or tutorials on art journalling but have come to the conclusion that it's something you do yourself, no one can teach you or show you how, maybe just inspire you. I can see my style changing as I go and the pages getting heavier with layers and I just love it. Such a sense of pure inspiration when I finish each page and can't get the gesso off my hands for days after! *note to ones self to get gloves and a mat for my poor table

Mini christmas album

I recently bought a paper pack off Create with Kate and knew immediately I had to make a Christmas Album out of it. Using this tutorial off youtube from Follow the Papertrail here I made this in one afternoon, I'd say i could have done it quicker but I just barracaded myself on the corner piece of our couch and watched christmas movies all weekend. I hope D doesn't notice the sprinkle of glitter all over the couch now but it is Christmas after all!

So excuse the shakey handy work it's hard to pull out tags while trying to hold the book and the camera at the same time! My christmas mini album is all ready to go, all I have to do is add photos and some cracker charms :)

Santa Baby

I love this photo but the LO just doesn't seem to do it justice and I knew once I had stuck the title down it was all wrong and the silly thing wouldn't lift off. I made the christmas baubles hanging from the top out of a blob of glossy accents (this stuff should be sold in gallon cartons) and sprinkled fine glitter on it, with a drawn line in pen and glossy accents over it.

Just a few I managed to get done yesterday. Feeling something is missing from all my pages lately, I look at other pages and just think "That works", maybe if I got some real time to do it, it mightn't seem so rushed but I can't see that happening any time soon!

Happy Hallowe'n everyone :) Hope it's all in good fun and there's no goblins and ghouls around. Well there was just me and Emma dressed up as Day of the Dead women last night and I hope that's as scary as it will get! Altered Anne as I call her my very creative friend sent me a fabulous tag and it inspired me to make some halloween decorations. I used Tim Holtz paper and the skeletons were from the €2 shop. Bit of shimmer spray into glossy accents makes awesome blood, I had to stop myself from covering everything including Eli in it because it poured so beautifully, oozed you might say!

Sunday scrapping

Excuse the spelling typo's my hands are caked in gesso and won't wash off!

I had been so safe with my scrapping lately and my hands were were itching to get dirty so I just went for it tonight. Eli's photo's of messy play he's had and some tasty crayons inspired me but so did this page, I'm a big fan!! http://madebymija.blogspot.com/

There is loads of texture on it that the camera didn't pick up, I gessoed a yellow piece of cardstock and then applied some pva and put book pages over it. Leave to dry for a few minutes then peel away the paper that didn't stick and even some that did for a transulcent print effect.

I first did 1 lump, then another and realised they looked like boobs so had to add a third... you live and learn. I made then by scrunching a piece up and added glue to layer a circle over it, gesso and glued it down tight like I was making ravilloi. Really must get some modelling paste though, the one I have is very coarse and can do nothing with it so I just shoved ART into it!

PTI cards- Mehndi medallion and dotty

I've had my eye on this set since I saw it and using Stazon On in red and Vivid brown and gold I stamped it all over the card, cutting out a few and mounting them. The sentiments is from PTI as well and just mounted on red and foam dotted.

This is the Dotty stamp set, not too sure of the proper name and since this is the first time I sat down all day I'm not getting up to check! Sentiment is from an American crafts set I got in TkMax for €3 and such a great bargain because I use it all the time. Flower is stamped and cut out.

All this was done in 10 minutes, I call it panic crafting as Eli watches Mickey Mouse I see what I can throw on paper!

I got one over the weekend and nothing is safe, I've labelled my glass, all my herb press, Eli... the list goes on. But what I really wanted it for was journalling.

Paper I used was some Emma shared out (Thanks Emma :) ) I think it was Echo Park, love the grunged faded colours of it. And for the Little Steps LO I used Tim Hotlz Pack, don't ask which one because it's very early but I know I am struggling to find use for it not like the other ones where I only have scraps of them left. I have a PTI order on the way wooooo and can't wait to get my hands on it because I need a scrap lift! But Just afraid my scrap closet won't take much more being squeezed into it!

I just realised I have nearly 4 full albums of this boy before his first birthday, think I had better slow down a bit. Although my scrapping time has been cut to none lately it's still nice to get a few bits done even though they feel rushed and it was more about getting the photo onto the page.

I used Bo Bunny stack and can't remember for the life of me what it was called, love the bright colours of it and makes for easy scrapping because there's not much you can do with it being busy!

DIY baby tie t-shirt

I wanted something special and cool for Eli's birthday but because he is still in tiny clothes 0-3, 3-6 months at a push people obviously don't make cool clothes for tiny babies! So I bought a cheap top from Pennys for €3 for a pack of 2 and a pack of ties on special offer for €1. Took me about 15 minutes, 25 if you include the times I had to pick Eli up off the floor because he rolled off his mat and was giving out and I think if you can thread a needle anyone could do this!

I used the skinny end of a man's tie and measured it so it was just a bit longer than the top,DONT cut yet!

Fold a diagonal edge like in the photo, this is where you make sure the end of the tie is no longer than the top

Fold the long piece back over to form the tie knot but it's not as bulky as normal

The last fold is the long piece back behind (I hope I am explaining this properly, if not the photos should help!) This is when you cut it, cut about half way across the back of the knot so there's no overlap on the left side (our left)

I then folded the top piece down into a V so there would be no over lap on the top of the tie. Now you can leave it like this and it's a very square 80's pencil thin tie but I prefer a bit a beef in my tie so follow onto the next step

Pinch the bottom piece of the knot together so it looks like this and sow the back bottom piece together like a corset (zig zag back and forth any way the needle goes in, no one will see it so don't worry about being tidy!) so the knot looks bigger on top

Add an embelishment, best to do it before you sow the tie on. You don't have to sow the rest of the tie on after the knot but knowing my fella he would probably shove it into the xbox or use it as a rope to escape his cot. Best to be safe rather than trying to explain to the A&E nurse why exactly you thought it was wise to dress your tiny baby in a tie.

One small problem...I never tried the top on before I made the tie and realised it's too big! He seemed to think it was hilarious though so we have half our birthday suit now :)

When ever I look at this photo I think of that Dr Seuss quote, Oh the places you will go. I didn't want to use the same old paper so I got my sharpies out and water colour crayons and went loose. The airplanes die is one of Emma's PTI ones and the Get happy sticker was a K&Co that I had knocking around for years. Saw this on pininterest and knew I had to do it! Cut the alphabet from TH die and it's an American craft house embellishment. Used mod podge to glue it and seal it, really love it :) Put it by my front door so I can see it!

I got a packet of watch parts off ebay and had a little play today. I used fimo but it was a bit old and very hard to condition. I used eye shadow of all things to get the glimmer. You can't see from the photo but I used one of the watch pieces for the loop at he top. Once I mod podge it to seal it, it'll be good to go!

To draw you must close your eyes and sing. Mermaid is a downloaded image and I just drew in more hair and tail to help it blend in a bit. I gessoed the page first and then used my new watercolour crayons to get the background colour (need alot more practice with these!) and random stamps.Nothing special but it was nice to get my hands dirty :)

This isn't a quick project, don't be fooled!! Took me about 6 hours all in all but I was so determined to have my own Danbo I didn't mind :) except maybe having brain freeze in the middle and reading the English like it was Japanese, I don't do well with instructions!

His legs, I inked up the edges with TH Burlap to give it more dimension

This is around about where I felt like throwing it in...but wanting to see his little head kept me going

Take my photo- journalling is about how I always take photos but no one ever takes one of me unless it's a set up one and I always smile like a loon. Love this photo because it wasn't set up (but that's not saying I didn't shove the camera into D's hands!)

I made bunting out of circles folded in half over raffia, never thought of doing this before and would probably go smaller again. Think this was 1 1/2" circle.

So a scrap session cut short. Searched everywhere for inspiration and in the end I just laid pieces out without a sketch. The camera washed it out a bit because it was nearly dusk and my crap photo editing did nothing to help. Half of The Book of Eli-Chapter 2 is nearly full now and that's only since January...Better slow down

The amount of people on the street who think it is ok to come up and admire a baby while trying to grab their hands or stroke baby's face. I find myself pulling away alot and since it was drummed into us to wash, scrub and gel in SCBU, it's hard not to imagine the amount of germs on peoples hand's from just doing day to day activities so sorry my baby doesn't want to be part of your germ fest (Can you tell this happened yesterday and still shocked that someone tried to put their FINGER in his mouth because he was teething) His next t-shirt will be "Got Sanitizer Bitch? Bunting tutorial of sorts

I don't do tutorials because I don't do measurements or have never used a sowing machine until today so am I in no way in the know of how to use it, but I took photos as I made bunting for my sons room today. Here it goes:

I cut large triangles out of lots of different materia, not equilateral nor straight in any way but I'm sure sowing in a straight line isn't hard....

REMEMBER: good side kiss together, I had to make kissing noises as I made all of them because d'ya know it's hard to rip machine sown things....pin them

Sow along the two long sides in a random pattern as you wish, it's homemade it doesn't have to be straight

Cut a piece out of the bottom triangle and put little slits in the side so it will flatten better when you turn it inside out (or so my mother told me... it didn't but I'm not questioning her)

Turn inside out and I used a chop stick to push the bottom point out, don't push too hard or your bunting will begin to resemble swizz cheese. A good iron to material is what cover up is to spots, covers alot of imperfections! So iron the bunting flat....I had to iron mine twice, I don't know if it was a case of the iron wasn't hot enough or I really made a mess of it!

I got some nice red bunting and ironed it in half, then I slowly sowed each piece into the middle of the bunting (who am I kidding, I had no control over my foot and it just flew through it and the machine ran out of red thread after the first one, so I ended up using brown, pink and blue thread...really need to get some machine thread not just the packs you get free in hotels)

Ta-da... I wasn't too impressed when they were finished but once I stuck it up in Eli's room they were perfect

Now... time to put the sowing machine away that took farrrr longer than expected!

Freeze a moment in time

I took part in the challenge over at Scrap the Boys this month, which was Freeze a moment in time and you had to use numbers or a date in it. I scrapped a photo I had been meaning to do for a while and this seemed perfect. I always feel Eli will look back on his birth scrap pages and wonder why I didn't do any typical baby pages. His welcome page was him in his incubator and while I never want to hide it away from him I wanted one that wouldn't be so frightening. 1.02 was the time he was born, not the radio station I was listening to at the time! I used my new PTI stamps for the journalling circles and a lovely gold paint Anne gave me for my birthday as the background. Of course the clouds you shout, but of course, they are adorable!

Lots of Birthdays, an anniversary and a new baby! Busy month March...

For a friend's baby, decoupaged the teddy, all the paper is Papermania I think

A fimo embellishment I used silver goldfinger to highlight and using my new flourish stamps from PTI

Tim Holtz Lost and Found stack again (HOW much have I used this!!) and the steampunk dies UTEE'd with gold (like how they aren't completely covered) but a good card for a man I think

For my parents who are 30 years married..hang on I'm 31 :p (I'm 29 BTW!) It was a card someone commissioned for a wedding and never picked up so I just took off the couple and added the birds, flower and 30, simples!

Altered book

First page, the door opens to fimo embellishment. Tim Holtz paper inside the door and sprayed with homemade spray which I love. Everything stuck on with modpodge (be careful with it around distress inks, they aren't water proof as I keep having to remind myself!)

Love mod podge for altered projects, especially the matte as you can be as messy as you want and never see where you glued

This is my favourite page, I got inspired from a quote and decided that each page should have a lovely inspiring quote. Handcut a dragonfly out of grungeboard and embossed it. The Strangest grungeboard ever, it cracked and just wouldn't co-operate :( A mixture of mod podge and gesso and acrylic paint to cover it and then a good mash up with my fingers!

Tag inside in the bottle cap page, they are little bells inside the bottle cap and they still rattle :)

I used some old family photos for this page, made it more special knowing that, I want to learn some new techniques to try folding the pages. Small steps Louise, small steps

So about 6 hours were put into it today and I'd say alot more to come. I want to do the niche next, have to get something nice to put into it!

For once, it's not about Eli. This photo was taken on our anniversary last year. I was 6 months pregnant and they told us that it was just a case of wait for baby to die. The most DEPRESSING anniversary we have ever spent so I look back on this photo and laugh now :) I made the flowers out of crepe paper, I'll do a tutorial if I ever get a chance!

I loved both the B& W and colour photo so I used both of them. Tim Holtz flower dies used, just inked and crinkled them and PTI buttons. The strip at the bottom is a sheet of music paper Emma gave me ages ago and it was just torn and inked. The music imprint was from the Tim Holtz range and perfect pearls brushed into clear ink. LO loosely followed from Creative scrappers LO this week :)

The best thing we have done to date.... routine. It's working great and we are all getting 8 hours sleep, happy days!

I stamped a Tim Holtz clock onto some packaging and drew on the time with a sharpie of the routine. The little embellishments are cut out of a cot magazine and the title is from the €2 again!

I needed a housewarming present for Amy and I thought I was in a crafty mood. About 1/2 into it I realised I wasn't and was just getting cross with myself because I didn't like what I was doing. Taken in a dark bathroom with an iphone does not lead to good quality photos, Fimo embellishments made from moulds and rubbed with goldfinger (thanks Anne!) I in vain tried to make a parrot out of TH bird die but it really didnt work! Used DMVC Once Upon a Time stack, it's too pretty to use but alot of the time you have to cut it up to use it

Love this LO, TH lost and found stack (again!!) with TH tattered flowers die cut out of a dictionary. Hope DH doesnt want to play scrabble any time soon! The clock and flower centre piece are fimo embellishments I made and the bling is from an old necklace

1st time meeting Amy & Richie (godparents)

1st vest- actual vest, it fit into 8x8 with room to spare!

1st Socks- actual socks, at 3 months he finally grew out of them but is now in limbo because new born socks are still massive for him

Could never thank the nurses in SCBU for the care and cuddles they gave Eli, still get a lump thinking about how kind and thoughtful they were. They do such an amazing job, if I hadn't picked a career I would be doing Special Care Nursing after seeing the amazing job they did

My tape dispenser rocks!

Take 1 sheet of 12x12 Lost & found from Tim Holtz ( I used the little square page for a collage look)

Roughly sand your tape dispenser (i used a nail file!) for some grip and cover in modge podge. I only have gloss, really have to get around to getting the matte

Layer on the paper, put a layer of modge podge on. I massaged with my hands as you can tell from my dirty hands. On tricky corners add slits in the paper and fold around the dispenser

Finished- now to add 3 coats of modge podge

One tres cool tape dispenser!

*Tips- makes sure you push any pockets of MP out from behind the paper.

Don't use thin paper or too thick card, it won't work

After the first coat of MP check on it to make sure none of it has lifted

Offically in <3 with Modge Podge and now I get to peel my fingers for the afternoon!

I signed up to STS (scrap, theme, sketch blog) and they have a brilliant pack they email you out monthly for inspiration. I just got mine (after I scrapped this) but the LO is nearly the same as their sketch for January.... weird!! So I'll use this :)

I was going to do a sentimental page but then I though ahh hell let's go tacky!! And sometimes that's the best way for Christmas, I put the journalling on Santa's beard and used some cheap foam stickers for Christmas, still haven't got a decent family photo after 14 weeks!

Saw a youtube video of Rachelo113 on youtube for a halloween inspired slider card and got inspired. I had to make a card for a friend for her birthday and really wanted to get durty so just went for it.

I used the new Tim Holtz Holiday Stack *Thanks Louise I LOVE it! and stamped and gessoed it and of course stickles. Trying to make a card for a birthday this time of year is very hard not to make it festive themed but I'm sure it's horrible having a birthday so close to christmas! The lock is one I made with Anne out of clay from a Tim Holtz mould *Anne we have to get together and make aload more of them, I wont make them by myself!

Instead of stamping happy birthday I tore a page from the dictionary for B and gessoed around everything except birthday and put it on a ----yokie, cant remember the name of those little bits of plastic*mummy brain

glossy....accents....yokies....you know what I'm on about!

This is a present for the nurses in SCBU, nothing I did tonight came out right. I had this in my head for ages but when I went to actually do it I couldn't....

I used a poem for premature mothers that makes me cry everytime I read it and I know it helped me so much when I read it the first time. I suppose there is only so many boxes of biscuits they can get as a present....

Covered the card in dark paper, ripped a piece of card for the snow, added the gold padded embellishments (think I got them in Lidl last year)and added glossy accents for snow.

Ran out of cards then, so looks like I'll be buying the rest!

I LOVE Tim Holtz's new Lost & Found paper stack, it inspires me so much and always seem to create what I want. The stamp is from Paper Trey Ink (thanks Emma!) and they are some of the cutest stamps for babies I have ever seen!

A card I made for a friends birthday, not a usual birthday card! I used Lost and Found paper stack (LOVE these papers so much I dont want to use them!) UTEE'd the bird cage and stamped and inked the bird behind it (cant really see it with the bad photo). Glossy accented a clock (yo can see missed the edge of it!) and embossed the phase time flies. I like how it came out :)

One of the last scans (one of 26) Eli kicked the scanner and we got a great shot of his big feet! I took a photo last week of his foot pushing out the incubator door, so thought it would be a great scrap opportunity!

I love this photo of D and Fleurie, she clawed her way up on to him and plonked herself down for a nap and ever so slowly started to slide off as she was napping! I was going to do faux stitching and then I thought...what else do I have to be doing? :) Basic Grey paper, can be a bit busy but I think it works with big photos so they don't get lost in the patterns.

Flour bebe is actually a bag of flour weighed out to 690g what baby weighed last week and wrapped in a premmie baby grow. I showed a paed nurse this today and she thought it was so funny although said McDivapants wouldn't be as fat as the bag of flour!

I saw this photo and thought of that saying straight away! As usual I was short on letters and ended up having to make every letter in BETTER! I triple embossed a bit of cardboard and stamped SEE into it, when it was cooled I restamped see with embossing ink and brushed on some lovely green eyeshadow! It's handy to be able to use all the gank eyeshadow you wouldn't normally wear :)

Made a tassle out of twine and inked it up. Using my new little girl stamp which I love (thanks Anne :) )and a few quote stamps I managed to get out of the craft slump I was in..phew!
